Sophie Rowell: Bruch’s Violin Concerto
25:34
MSO Concertmaster Sophie Rowell performs Bruch’s Violin Concerto in the scorching summer of the MSO’s free Sidney Myer Music Bowl program. It may be one of the most beloved concertos now, but its composition was hard fought. Rewritten at least half a dozen times by the composer’s own account, the payoff was worth it in this ravishingly lyrical and virtuosic piece. A versatile virtuoso, Rowell performs this work under the baton of Antony Hermus, making his MSO debut.
