Thielemann conducts Strauss with Renée Fleming
A powerhouse program of Richard Strauss from intimate lieder to grandiose symphony. One of the greatest operatic voices of our time, Renée Fleming, joins the inimitable Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of Christian Thielemann in a program that traces the breadth of Richard Strauss’ music. Opening with a selection of lieder, including from Strauss’ inimitable Four Songs, Fleming showcases the sensitive artistry which has made her famous; each song a ravishing, passionate, and emotional performance. Culminating in Strauss’ colossal Alpine Symphony, an episodic work tracing a perilous climb through the alps, Thielemann conducts a crystalline performance of this colourful and atmospheric music.
