The Warner Brothers Story: John Wilson at the BBC Proms
In their 10th year at the BBC Proms, John Wilson and the John Wilson Orchestra bring us the greatest hits of the Warner Brothers Studios. Relive Hollywood's "Golden Age" with performances of works written for the screen by the likes of Henry Mancini, Max Steiner, Harold Arlen and Erich Wolfgang Korngold. You might recognise some of these songs from blockbusters such as George Cukor's 1953 A Star is Born staring Judy Garland (most recently remade starring Lady Gaga), My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Dolittle, and Doris Day's debut performance in Romance on the High Seas, where she starred alongside Jack Carson. There might even be some tunes you recognise that you didn't realise you knew!
